  Ask Ian Recap
Ian McCaw, Baylor's Athletic Director, had a live chat this morning on Baylorbears.com. Here's a quick recap of what he talked about.

First question dealt with season ticket sales, and the news was surprisingly good. The season ticket sales are already greater than 2005, and Ian is hoping that we'll increase that number by a further 1,000 by the time the TCU game rolls around. I've been looking for 2005s season ticket numbers, but I can't find them. The last I heard was that we had more than 11,000 sold, and that the faculty and administration were yet to get their, so that number will go up. I think if we got around 14,000 season tickets sold this year, it would be a success, and if we got more than 17,000, that would be huge.

Ian also said that they are expecting the TCU/Baylor crowd to be 80% Baylor fans, which would be very encouraging.

Equestrian program was mentioned. Not sure why, football is 5 days away...

Good news on the Baylor Line front. More than 2,000 jerseys have been sold, up from the previous record of nearly 1,500. That's great news, indeed, as the Baylor Line has a great impact on the game. I hope the increase in general student turnout is just as good, as it would mean we'd likely have between 7 and 9 thousand students at the game. We averaged just under 6k last year.

Supposedly the new basketball schedule will be coming out, which is good news. I am very excited about the upcoming season and am eager to know who we'll be facing in the non-conference.

Someone asked about Ian's loyalty to Baylor if another school comes calling... COME ON, FOLKS!! We're FIVE days away from FOOTBALL! And I'm mad because Ian didn't answer my question about what he's doing about locking up Morriss and Drew for the long term, yet he found time to assure all of us that he's going to be around. I like the guy, but I care more about two of the best Head Coaches in the Big XII still being at Baylor next year and on into the future.

Two separate people addressed the issue of having alcohol at their tailgates. I hope everything got cleared up. Both times.

More exciting basketball news, the new Practice Facility will officially open September 8th. If you are interested in seeing the facility, tours will begin at 2pm. If you haven't checked out the pictures of this place, you need to. Amazing.

Here's a picture from the Waco Tribune-Herald.

Nice, huh? The floor is an exact replica of the Ferrell Centers floor.

That's really all that was mentioned of any importance in the chat. Not a ton of new stuff, but I'm encouraged with how the Baylor Line seems to be energized. Hopefully the team will be, too, and we can kick the season off right.

Sepulveda Likely to Kick Against TCU
Daniel Sepulveda said that after talking with his parents, his coaches and his doctor, he's likely to kick against TCU in this Sunday's matchup. Only 4 months removed from surgery to repair his ACL, the 2004 Ray Guy Award winner is wanting to get back on the field.

I think this is a pretty amazing recovery, but I hope the coaches are being smart about this. Having Daniel available to punt in conference play, when we want those Big XII offenses as much of the field to cover as possible is MUCH more important than an extra 5-8 yards per punt against TCU. Especially if the cost of those extra yards is DS sitting out a couple more games because he tweaked it again.

I guess we could rest him against NWSU and Army if it gets a little sore, but this would definitely be a risky move.

But it's his risky move to make.

Baylor Football is enjoying the Guy Morriss Era. Here at the Baylor Football Fan Blog, I will try to keep you up to date (sorta) on the goings on of Baylor football and my thoughts as well.
